چکیده

Radio resource management is important in enhancing spectrum utilization efficiency in broadband wireless services. Multi-cell binary power control (BPC) in full-reuse networks is a promising candidate in system optimization for this purpose. While the BPC scheme is inherently simple, the sum rate maximization by cooperative BPC across cells/links is almost as good as the best achievable non-binary solution. For practical use, the issue of imperfect channel knowledge should however also be considered. In this paper, we conduct an investigation and analysis of the performance of BPC and compare it to the best known non-binary optimization, as well as to full-power transmission. Performance under two different link gain measurement error models is reported. Clearly, with perfect channel knowledge, BPC usually has system capacity lower than that from the optimized non-binary allocation, although the loss is marginal. However, more interestingly, when measurement errors occur, BPC achieves a better and more robust performance. Simulation results show that it is less sensitive to the negative impacts of the link gain measurement errors. When looking at the simple full power scheme, comparisons show that although it is severely suboptimal when perfect channel state knowledge or moderate channel state error levels are considered, it can actually outperform BPC and also GP-based optimization in some scenarios with severely erroneous channel knowledge.

Performance Analysis of cooperative SWIPT System: Intelligent Reflecting Surface versus Decode-and-Forward

In this paper, we explore the impacts of utilizing intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) in a power-splitting based simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (PS-SWIPT) system and compare its performance with the traditional decode and forward relaying system. To analyze a more practical system, it is also assumed that the receiving nodes are subject to decoding cost, and they are on...

Sum-Rate Maximization Based on Power Constraints for Cooperative AF Relay Networks

In this paper, our objective is maximizing total sum-rate subject to power constraints on total relay transmit power or individual relay powers, for amplify-and-forward single-antenna relay-based wireless communication networks. We derive a closed-form solution for the total power constraint optimization problem and show that the individual relay power constraints optimization problem is a quad...

The Expected Achievable Distortion of Two-User Decentralized Interference Channels

This paper concerns the transmission of two independent Gaussian sources over a two-user decentralized interference channel, assuming that the transmitters are unaware of the instantaneous CSIs. The availability of the channel state information at receivers (CSIR) is considered in two scenarios of perfect and imperfect CSIR. In the imperfect CSIR case, we consider a more practical assumption of...

Optimal Cooperative Spectrum Sensing Under Faded and Bandwidth Limited Control Channels

Most of the cooperative spectrum sensing related research assumes system models with perfect control channel (i.e. with unlimited channel bandwidth and no channel errors). However, the assumption is not realistic and can lead to incorrect conclusions regarding the performance analysis of the cooperative spectrum sensing detection capabilities. This paper proposes a novel cooperative spectrum se...
